Window to The Bay #10
Happy New Year! Can you believe that February is almost here? There is much to be grateful for in the early days of 2021, most notably the inauguration of our country’s first femaie Vice President! We did many a happy dance that week from our patriotic blue, white, and red painted home along with many in our country celebrating America! And coincidentally we spotted our boldly painted home in the Wall Street Journal on January 22nd in Jessica Dailey’s article “Colorful Homes are Taking Center Stage Thanks to Instagram.” (see PDF here).

Laura Ann Studio went cobalt blue like our “Window to The Bay” watercolor portrait borders in the fall of 2019 shortly before our celebratory 10th anniversary Open Studios garden painting party. As a child, I grew up sketching the brightly painted homes of Charleston, South Carolina’s “Rainbow Row” (also featured in the article), so I have always loved the colorful houses of San Francisco. Our modern stucco building is surrounded by ornately colored “painted lady” Victorian houses. Thus when our home needed a fresh coat, I was grateful that my neighbor, interior designer Noz Nozawa of Noz Design, is equally passionate about color. We collaborated one sunny afternoon on the front steps to go over color chips and it was pure magic bringing our shared vision to life. The local artist fnnch put the finishing touch that tied together our cobalt blue building and poppy red doors with painted poppies and a honeybear mural. We hope the bright colors bring as much joy to neighbors and passersby as it does to us coming home each day!
With love for the every day and special days,
Laura Ann Elbogen
