Welcome to Laura Ann Studio

meet Laura Elbogen

Once upon a time there was a little girl in East Avalon Hills named Laura Ann who loved polka dot knee socks and purses and playing hopscotch on a chalk covered driveway. She wore pigtails as she chased neighbors from yard to yard gathering buckeyes and hosting tea parties serving mud cakes along the creek bed. On warm summer nights she sailed down the sidewalks on her streamer decked bicycle until just beyond dusk to catch lightning bugs. She carried art supplies wherever she went and dreamed of having her own art studio like her grandmother, who was her earliest champion and artist aspiration.

She hoped to see the world in faraway places. Wherever life took her, she knew in her heart that it would be filled with adventure. And after winning her first award for art at age 6, she knew it would be filled with color.

The beauty of art always drew me back. There have been a lot of occupations in between, but art always drew me back.

That same little girl grew up, and staying true to her inner child, took the road less traveled to becoming a professional artist. She wore many hats along the way which included a seven-year stint in Manhattan that engendered some amazing adventures. Each hat she wore spoke to the artist within, whether it was working in fashion or selling her art as a sidewalk street vendor in Union Square. But it was in her work running programs at the AIA New York Center for Architecture that her loves for art and architecture came together.

What draws me to architecture is the human nature of it. It’s not only in the way buildings reflect the people who live and spend their time there, but in how they reflect different styles and the way they change over time. They’re truly reflections of our lives.
— Laura elbogen

Those dual passions come together in her home studio, just steps from the famed “painted ladies” of San Francisco. With a short walk, she can draw inspiration from Victorian architecture renowned the world over for its craftsmanship, bringing it into her art in the ultimate expression of art and architecture.
