Happy Friday! It’s almost Halloween, Election Day (vote!), and it’s closing in on the end of a virtual Archtober Architecture and Design Month in New York City - I had the pleasure of launching the festival in 2011 as founding Programs Director and I am very proud to watch the current staff bring the festival into it’s 10th Anniversary year! Don’t miss the finale announcement of the “Pumpkitecture” pumpkin carving contest winners.
On the subject “Did it make you cry?” - there are enough sad tears in the world, I want to talk about happy tears. When I was a young child, if I created a particularly sweet card or handmade gift for my parents, the best affirmation of how much they liked it would be tears of joy (let’s just say that when it comes to my sentimental and nostalgic gene, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree). Recently I painted two watercolor portraits for San Francisco Coldwell Banker real estate agent Dexter Lim for two different home seller clients, both longtime homeowners, and the paintings made BOTH cry tears of joy. It was the best compliment! Read on for a Window to The Bay interview with Dexter.

Meet Dexter lim
1. What’s the “why” of your business?
DL: My “why” of this business comes from a true passion of helping people, allowing me to connect with complete strangers or old friends that I haven’t seen in years, my competitive nature in constantly striving to achieve goals and everyday learning about the business and myself.
2. What is the key to developing a relationship with a client?
DL: The key to developing a relationship with a client is to be yourself while providing great value and excellent communication. It’s not always about business but sometimes about relationships, so I try to have fun every now and then.
3. What do you love most about where you live?
DL: Inner Richmond has provided me with a convenient, safe and beautiful place to live while also allowing me to be in touch with my culture. I’ve lived here my entire life and I wouldn’t imagine living anywhere else but here.
